Thanks for visiting!
We’re Paul and Sherilyn Walker, a retired Canadian couple, obsessed with travel, adventures and exploring. We’re often asked, “how do you travel the way you do”? Inspired by this question, we began chronicling our adventures as a way of sharing some experiences and lessons learned along the way with people like you!
Quick background
Born and raised in central Canada. We both, coincidentally, left home between high school and university to work at our respective sporting endeavours, affording us many travel opportunities at young ages. The fires were lit! We eventually met, married, got educated, settled into corporate jobs (also entailing lots of travel) and raised two fabulous boys.
Skip forward 25 years
The boys had completed their educations and were off the payroll. Luck prevailed as both of our corporate exit plans came about in 2018 (Sherilyn) and 2020 (Paul). The pandemic held us down for a bit but our planning was exuberant and we were bursting to continue exploring!
How we travel
To many people, our travel appears spontaneous. In fact, it’s not. We like to describe ourselves as having a “flexible structure”. Extensive research (reading, talking to people and scouring blogs like this!) often leads us to areas of intrigue. Fascination with human interactions, learning about world history and exploring the wonders of planet earth seem to be guiding our adventures.
We recognize that everyone travels differently. Creating an individual adventure is very personal (based on your comfort needs, budget, timelines, interests, activity level, etc). We love being active during our travels and always strive to incorporate walking, cycling, swimming, yoga, and other surprises, into our travels. Very seldom do we use formally organized tours. We go where our hearts (and good weather) take us. We stay longer in places we love and move along if a location is not speaking to us.
Inspiration
Our hope is by sharing our experiences we’re able to assist and inspire you to travel in a way that fulfills your adventurous spirit!
